Volunteer/member orientation
We now require a quick, in-person orientation session to make sure everyone understands the basic of how the co-op works before they begin working here (whether Volunteering, or using their Membership to work on their own bike). If you'd just like to learn about the co-op first in a more informal way, you can join our Saturday Social Ride; or stop in during retail hours (but we're often very busy with customers then).
Volunteer/member orientations are held every Thursday at 7pm at the co-op, and last about an hour. No appointment is needed, just drop in a bit before 7pm so we can create an account for you on the computer and you can clock in for "taking a class" to credit the orientation. Then the group of new volunteers (usually 5 - 10 folks) will meet with a co-op staff or key volunteer, take a tour to get to learn your way around, and, if you have another hour to spend, you can start volunteering at 8.

You also may want to look at the shop manual on our wiki, which describes many of the things which volunteers do. If you are interested in taking (or testing out of) the membership classes, the curriculum is on the wiki as well.
