Safe and legal riding is one of the most important ways each of us can gain respect for all cyclists from other road users, ultimately facilitating advocacy for legislation of equitable enforcement and funding for engineered bicycle facilities. The 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month OCBC holds a Traffic Skills Intro ride to teach fundamental skills to adults seeking to "act, and be treated as, drivers of vehicles" in traffic (see below).

This "vehicular cycling" philosophy is approached differently, though, when riding with children, and certainly when teaching children who will be riding on their own.

So our Family Traffic Skills ride is designed to address those special cases, in a fun and casual format (with snacks!).

This ride covers the same basic material as our Traffic Skills Intro ride, but with a focus on riding as a group for families with children (who are able to confidently balance and ride a two wheel bike), and tips on teaching them safe cycling concepts for riding on their own.

The 1st Family Traffic Skills ride of this year is on Saturday May 20th from 9:00am - noon.  The fee for this class is $5 per family member (payable with volunteer credits, or free for Earn A Bike students).  To register please see our Event Signup page. If you have questions feel free to call (216-830-2667) or email (info@ohiocitycycles.org).
