Class size is limited, so payment ensures enrollment. To register, you must pre-pay. On the next page you can make a secure on-line payment now. You can also pay with your volunteer credits. If you wish to pay using another method, like paying with cash or check, you can come to the shop during open hours to pay. At that time, you can register for the class in person. If the class reaches its capacity, you can still register and be put on a waiting list.
Class may be cancelled if, three days before the first class, there are less than three students registered for the series.
Cancellation policy: For a full refund, you may cancel your registration for a class series 10 days in advance of the first day of class (two Wednesdays before the first Saturday of the month). This gives us time to advertise the vacancy and fill the spot. We're sorry, but if you cancel within the 9 days before class, we cannot refund you. Filling the class is important to us, so please be mindful when registering.
Earn-a-Bike students under the age of 18: you must come with a parent/guardian. You also must visit the shop before your classes to pick out your bike and fill our our Earn-a-Bike Release Form. Please register as ONE student, using the youth's name. Additionally, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call us at 216-830-2667 to make an appointment to pick out the child's bike.
Students working on an as-is "project bike": You need to make a separate visit, prior to the first class, to pick out an appropriate bike. Please email email@example.com or call us at 216-830-2667 to make an appointment to pick out this bike.
Textbook: We have copies of Park Tool's Big Blue Book of Bicycle
Repair for sale at a reduced price if you enroll in the Shop Classes.
This textbook will be a helpful companion to the subjects we cover in
class but also gives much more information than we have time to go
over. It is not required to have a textbook if you are taking the
class. However, if you plan to work on your own bike at home the big
blue book is an indispensable reference tool. If you would like to
purchase a copy, please select yes next the Park Tool Big Blue
Book option. They are $15 which is about 30% off the retail price. If
you would not like a textbook you can of course select no thanks.
Policy on missing a class: Registering for the class series includes attendance at 4 classes throughout the month. Since each class builds upon the last class, you may not skip classes and make them up later. However, we are aware that unforeseeable events do occur. For emergency purposes ONLY, participants may make a special shop use appointment to re-take the missed class on the Wednesday immediately following the class at 6:00pm, subject to availability. This re-take class will cost $30.00, since staff time during our open hours is valuable. If this is ever the case, get in touch with us as soon as possible to make an appointment for the re-take class.
