Thanks in part to a large expansion in programs we are running this season, we find ourselves with a shortage of refurbished bikes for sale, so we have made the decision to alter our retail hours for bike sales to Saturdays, from noon to 7pm Only. We hope that this will result in better selection for our patrons, and better guidance for our volunteers.

Shop use will still be available on Thursdays and Fridays from noon to 7pm for Volunteers and Patrons alike (by appointment if assistance is needed) and to accommodate the expected increase in bike-shoppers, Shop use on Saturdays will be kept to extreme bicycle emergencies (as has always been our policy).

Volunteer opportunities will be expanded from our current Noon to 7pm Thursdays and Fridays, with the addition of “Apprentice Wednesdays”, for trained volunteers to help meet refurbished bike sales needs. This time is for experienced mechanics only who can schedule themselves with our volunteer shift sign up  tool for a minimum two-hour commitment from noon to 8pm.

We made this decision in order to maintain our standards for service and safety for all. Implementation of our new shop enhancements and Safe shared space policy; volunteer training components of our nascent apprentice program; and recent confirmation of new Earn a Bike, Fixathons, and other off-site programs are making greater demands on our staff and volunteer capacity, so we appreciate the understanding of our patrons shopping for refurbished and as-is bikes.

If Saturdays 12-7p is not a time you are able to visit and you wish to purchase a bike, please email info@ohiocitycycles.org and we will make an appointment to help you with that selection at another time.We are confident that all of you in our community will understand this change. Our Primary goal in all of this is to fulfill our mission, “Helping people use Bicycles”, and we want to ensure the most equitable experience for our stakeholders, our Patrons, and our volunteers.
